Fontanelle Customer, Weydert Ag Featured on Ag Day

July 25, 2007

When the request from Ag Day TV went out this spring to seed companies asking for a grower who had planted YieldGard VT3 Triple Stack corn products on their farm and would be willing to do an interview, Fontanelle Hybrids District Sales Manager Rick Schultz, Algona, IA responded with the name of a new Fontanelle customer of his, Weydert Ag, Bode, IA.

"As it turns out the Weydert's are big fans of Ag Day and watch it all the time," Schultz said. "So they were thrilled when I called to ask if I could submit their name to the program."

Weydert's planted two different YieldGard VT3 products. "I got on to their farm through their plot which they plant every year," Schultz said. "Last year I had two Fontanelle products in their plot that had the same base genetics as these VT's and both products did very well."

The first segment, which focused mostly on the traits and why the Weydert's decided to try YieldGard VT3, aired in mid-May. The second segment was filmed on Tuesday, July 24 looking at the root development on the YieldGard VT3 products versus corn products treated with an insecticide. Ad Day plans on a follow up trip yet this fall during harvest.

Fontanelle Hybrids markets corn, soybeans, grain sorghum, alfalfa and sunflowers in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Colorado, Missouri and portions of Illinois, Minnesota, South Dakota and Texas as an independent operating company within American Seeds Inc, a holding company of Monsanto.
